Tastes of New Year

Just whipped up a couple of batches of simple syrups. Cinnamon, rose water and lavender. It’s super easy and works well with desserts and cocktails.

For the Cinnamon start with a simple syrup.
1 part water, 2 parts sugar. Bring the water to boiling and slowly add the sugar until it’s dissolved. Once clear add cinnamon (I used ground but you can use sticks) to taste. I did 2 cups of sugar with 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.

For the lavender and rose water you’ll need to purchase rose water and lavender water. Replace the water in the above recipe with the rose or lavender water.

You can try pretty much anything in the syrup from anise to lemons. Remember fresh produce will provide a stronger flavour than dried.

Enjoy.
